About me
Betsy Thomas is a nationally recognized school librarian celebrated for her creativity, dedication, and leadership in education. In 2020, she brought stories to life by producing engaging read-aloud videos of picture books. Using a green screen set up in her basement, Betsy transported her audience to imaginative settings and also filmed on-location at unique sites like farms and warehouses to make each story even more captivating. Her innovative approach earned her national recognition on The Today Show and a “Twilight Award” from Chance the Rapper and Box Tops for Education. She also secured a grant from Skippy Peanut Butter to enhance her library's collection.
As the Library Instructional Leader for Lincoln Public Schools, Betsy has continued her impactful work by co-authoring one of the nation’s first full elementary library curriculum. This groundbreaking curriculum has been presented at state and national conferences and is now used by librarians across the country, serving as a model for innovative library instruction.
At the Nebraska Educational Technology Association (NETA) conference, Betsy will share her expertise in using technology to create engaging, impactful lessons for school librarians. She will also provide valuable insights into how technology can be leveraged to support librarians and students at both local and national levels.
